At Girl & the Goose, vegetarian dining takes on a whole new personality — colourful, inventive and deeply rooted in the flavours of Central America.

There is something particularly refreshing about finding a restaurant where vegetarian dishes don’t feel like an afterthought. At Girl & the Goose, the vegetarian menu is an experience in itself, bringing together vibrant produce, unexpected flavour combinations and contemporary interpretations of Central American classics.

Inspired by Central American culinary traditions and Chef Gabriela Chamorro’s Nicaraguan heritage, the restaurant brings together traditional influences with a contemporary approach, creating a dining experience that feels both authentic and playful.

We began with guacamole and the restaurant’s cheese buns, before moving on to the Wild Corn Salad, which brought a fresh and vibrant element to the table.

The empanadas were a highlight, particularly because we got to try both vegetarian flavours. The Goat Cheese & Caramelised Onion Empanada paired creamy goat cheese with the sweetness of caramelised onion, while the Tomato & Provolone Empanada offered a more savoury, comforting combination. Both were delicious in their own way and made for an enjoyable side-by-side tasting.

Next came the Honduran Style Refried Beans Tostada, bringing a deeper, more traditional Central American character to the meal. The crispy tostada topped with refried beans was simple, hearty and full of flavour.

Then came the Watermelon Ceviche, one of the more playful dishes of the evening. Using watermelon in place of seafood, it recreates the freshness and acidity associated with ceviche while introducing a delicate sweetness. It was light, refreshing and an especially creative choice for vegetarian diners.

We also tried the Quesadilla, which brought a familiar, comforting element to the table before we arrived at our standout dish — the Gorgonzola Pappardelle.

The Must-Try: Gorgonzola Pappardelle

If there is one dish we would tell you not to miss, it’s the Gorgonzola Pappardelle.

The wide ribbons of pasta are coated in a creamy Gorgonzola sauce, balanced with caramelised onions and homemade pickled cucumbers. The combination is rich and indulgent, while the pickled cucumber adds an unexpected acidity that keeps the dish from feeling too heavy.

For us, this was the standout of the entire meal — the kind of dish that stays with you long after the last bite.

A Vegetarian’s Perspective

As a vegetarian, I’m always interested in how thoughtfully a restaurant approaches its meat-free offering. What stood out at Girl & the Goose was the variety. There was no feeling of having to settle for one or two vegetarian dishes; instead, the menu offered an entire journey through different flavours, textures and cooking styles.

“As a vegetarian, I genuinely loved how much there was to explore. From the two different empanadas and the Honduran-style tostada to the watermelon ceviche and quesadilla, every dish felt thoughtfully put together. But the Gorgonzola Pappardelle was definitely my favourite. It was rich, comforting and had such an unexpected balance of flavours — it’s the dish I would come back for.” - Anushka Mehta, Founder, Maison Arabia

Girl & the Goose offers a refreshing perspective on vegetarian dining in Dubai, proving that a meat-free menu can be just as exciting, indulgent and adventurous.

For the curious diner, it’s a journey through Central American-inspired flavours — and for vegetarians, it’s a menu worth exploring from beginning to end.
